Fire is the final show in the series of four exhibitions; ‘Elements’ produced by the ATELIER MELUSINE for the City de L’Ecrit, Montmorillon over the summer of 2024.
The show brings together the 15 artists from ‘Water’, Earth’ and ‘Air’ alongside another 13 invited artists with over 80 artworks on site. The hang, whilst entitled fire, incorporates all four elements, again emphasising the interconnectivity between and flux through states which we call matter. It shows the transformatory patterns which underly our material world, the transformations of state, from gaseous, through liquid to solid which keep us alive.
Red fire, gold fire, white flame, blue flame, orange flame and the black fire which represents the crucible; purification, intense transformation and ultimately renewal from the smoke, steam and carbon inevitably produced by fire.
Without fire, even in its destructive aspect, there is now regrowth.
There are codes and patterns throughout the hang, the works and each individual wall curated carefully to enable dialogues between the forms, the cross, the cube, fluidity, order and the triangle all come into play across the mediums. Some works explore the element literally, whilst others reference the deeper meanings and connections with the natural world, with promethean and mythological aspects emerging.

Fire was one of many archai proposed by the pre-Socratics, most of whom sought to reduce the cosmos, or its creation, to a single substance. Heraclitus (c. 535 BCE – c. 475 BCE) considered fire to be the most fundamental of all elements.
"All things are an interchange for fire, and fire for all things, just like goods for gold and gold for goods."(1)
It is the world of Agni, Venus, Netzach, Michael (Archangel), Djins, Dragons, Seraphim, Solar deities and the Wand, in Tarot it is often represented by the (blasted) Tower and the sculptures, (Jones, Garnier and Stewart), throughout the exhibition reference this vertical format as conduits from the earth to the heavens. Above all else, fire brings light.

FIRE

Fire est la dernière exposition de la série de quatre expositions 'Elements' produite par l'ATELIER MELUSINE pour la Cité de L'Ecrit, Montmorillon pendant l'été 2024.
L'exposition rassemble les 15 artistes des expositions « Eau “, ” Terre “ et ” Air », ainsi que 13 autres artistes invités, avec plus de 80 œuvres d'art sur le site. L'accrochage, bien qu'intitulé feu, incorpore les quatre éléments, soulignant à nouveau l'interconnectivité et le flux entre les états que nous appelons la matière. Il montre les schémas de transformation qui sous-tendent notre monde matériel, les transformations d'état, du gazeux au solide en passant par le liquide, qui nous maintiennent en vie.
Le feu rouge, le feu d'or, la flamme blanche, la flamme bleue, la flamme orange et le feu noir qui représente le creuset ; la purification, la transformation intense et finalement le renouvellement à partir de la fumée, de la vapeur et du carbone inévitablement produits par le feu.
Sans le feu, même dans son aspect destructeur, il n'y a pas de repousse.
Des codes et des motifs sont présents dans l'ensemble de l'exposition, les œuvres et chaque mur individuel étant soigneusement choisis pour permettre des dialogues entre les formes, la croix, le cube, la fluidité, l'ordre et le triangle sont tous des éléments qui entrent en jeu dans les différents médiums. Certaines œuvres explorent l'élément littéralement, tandis que d'autres font référence aux significations plus profondes et aux liens avec le monde naturel, avec des aspects prométhéens et mythologiques qui émergent.

Le feu était l'un des nombreux archaïsmes proposés par les présocratiques, dont la plupart cherchaient à réduire le cosmos, ou sa création, à une substance unique. Héraclite (vers 535 avant J.-C. - vers 475 avant J.-C.) considérait le feu comme le plus fondamental de tous les éléments.
« Toutes les choses sont un échange pour le feu, et le feu pour toutes les choses, tout comme les biens pour l'or et l'or pour les biens"(1)
C'est le monde d'Agni, de Vénus, de Netzach, de Michael (archange), des Djins, des Dragons, des Séraphins, des divinités solaires et de la Baguette. Dans le Tarot, il est souvent représenté par la Tour (dynamitée) et les sculptures (Jones, Garnier et Stewart), tout au long de l'exposition, font référence à ce format vertical en tant que conduits de la terre vers les cieux. Par-dessus tout, le feu apporte la lumière.
