Due to the restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic we have adapted Le Gear’s planned 2021 residency with us at the ATELIER MELUSINE in France.
We are delighted to start distance working on the second element of our ‘Women and Water’ series, collaborating with Irish artist Ruth Le Gear.
Le Gear writes:
”My life’s work is to understand and communicate with water. I explore it, in all its layers, the tiny micro-organisms that live in one drop, the huge oceans and ocean creatures, lakes, rivers, clouds,mist, rain, sleet, hale, icebergs, and glaciers…I have collected icebergs in the Arctic from a tall ship, wandered the desert of New Mexico, and stood on the tip of the Cape of Good Hope. In these places and where ever I am, my intention is always to try to communicate with the water that is there, this most beautiful life-giving force of nature. Each body of water is totally unique.”
Le Gear and Annett will work remotely over several weeks with digital maps, sacred sites and the rivers of the Vienne region in France. Through methods of dialogue, research, dowsing, intuition seven sites will be selected. Commencing on the feast of Beltane – May 1st, Annett will collect water samples under the guidance of Le Gear and then send them to her studio in Ireland for processing. The results will then be returned for exhibition in France in June/July 2021 as part of a series of events co-curated by Lucy Perkins, focussing on Irish music and poetry.

En raison des restrictions liées à la pandémie de COVID-19, nous avons adapté la résidence de Ruth Le Gear prévue pour 2021 à l'ATELIER MELUSINE en France. Nous sommes ravis de commencer à travailler à distance sur le deuxième élément de notre série "Femmes et eau", en collaborant avec l'artiste irlandaise Ruth Le Gear.Le Gear écrit : "Le travail de ma vie est de comprendre et de communiquer avec l'eau. Je l'explore, dans toutes ses couches, les minuscules micro-organismes qui vivent dans une goutte, les immenses océans et les créatures océaniques, les lacs, les rivières, les nuages, la brume, la pluie, le grésil, le vent, les icebergs et les glaciers... J'ai ramassé des icebergs dans l'Arctique à bord d'un grand navire, j'ai erré dans le désert du Nouveau-Mexique et je me suis tenue sur la pointe du Cap de Bonne-Espérance. Dans ces endroits et où que je sois, mon intention est toujours d'essayer de communiquer avec l'eau qui se trouve là, cette magnifique force de la nature qui donne la vie. Chaque masse d'eau est totalement unique."
Le Gear et Annett travailleront à distance pendant plusieurs semaines avec des cartes numériques, des sites sacrés et les rivières de la région de Vienne en France. Grâce à des méthodes de dialogue, de recherche, de radiesthésie et d'intuition, sept sites seront sélectionnés. À partir de la fête de Beltane - 1er mai,Annett collectera des échantillons d'eau sous la direction de Le Gear, puis les enverra à son studio en Irlande pour les traiter. Les résultats seront ensuite retournés pour être exposés en France en juin/juillet 2021.

Beidh LeGear agus Annett ag obair iargúlta ar feadh roinnt seachtainí le léarscáileanna digiteacha, suíomhanna naofa agus aibhneacha i réigiún Vienne na Fraince. Thridmodhanna idirphlé, taighde, collslat agus iomas, roghnófar seacht suíomh. Ag tosú ar fhéile Beltane – 1ú lá go Bealtaine, baileoidh Annett samplaí uisce faoi stiúir Le Gear agus ansin seolfaidh siad chuig a stiúideo in Éirinn iad lena bpróiseáil. Tabharfar na torthaí ar ais ansin le taispeáint sa Fhrainc i Meitheamh/Lúil 2021 mar phairt de shraith imeachtaí arna gcomhordú ag Lucy Perkins, ag díriú ar cheol agus ar fhilíocht na hÉireann.
